LESSONS AND ATTENDANCE

These normally consist of 45-minute or one-hour weekly private lessons – either online or in-person. The day and time will be consistent on a week to week basis. The time of your lesson will be flexible due to traffic and weather conditions for in-person lessons and technology issues for online lessons. It is imperative that all scheduled lessons be attended. This is necessary for successful student progress.

SCHEDULING POLICY

See Make-Up Lesson Policy.

TUITION

Tuition is payable in advance on a bi-monthly basis on the first lesson of the following months: September, November, January, March, May, and July. The tuition fee for 2023-2024 is $52.50 per 45 minute lesson or $70 per hour.  Travel is extra (see fee schedule).

SCHEDULED HOLIDAYS AND SUMMER SCHOOL

Lessons which fall during pre-arranged holidays will be made up at the earliest opportunity. Please indicate your vacation time as soon as possible, so that make-up lessons can be scheduled. There will be no lessons Labour Day, Christmas Break, March Break, however lessons which fall on statutory holidays (Thanksgiving, Family Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, and Victoria Day) will be rescheduled. Summer lessons (July and August) are available and encouraged for continuity of learning. There will be no lessons the week of Canada Day and the week before Labour Day.

We have an open door policy and certainly encourage parents to sit in on their child’s lessons. For young children, it is important that parents do so regularly. Children show faster progress and higher interest if parents play an active role in their child’s playing during the lesson and practice at home. It is irrelevant how much a parent knows about music. Open communication between parent and teacher is best done by email lynne@olivermusicstudios.ca or phone 647-971-3136.
