Assessments:

The Etobicoke-Mississauga branch of ORMTA holds 2 Assessment events per year: December and March.  Students who participate and receive a mark of 84 or higher may compete at the Scholarship Recital in May for cash prizes.

The Royal Conservatory of Music

This is a great site for all things to do with music education.  There is information on the RCM curriculum, examinations and resources: online bookstore and apps.  There is a parent guide as well.  The RCM resources page has articles about the benefits of music education, and specifically structured music education.

Milton Music Festival:

The Biennial Milton Music Festival provides an excellent opportunity to recognize outstanding musical achievement in students of all ages, levels and instruments by way of awards and scholarships through the MMTA. Scholarships are donated by local citizens, groups and businesses in our community to recognize the efforts of students whose Festival performances are outstanding.

The Milton Music Festival is run exclusively by volunteers; MMTA teachers and others who graciously give their time and talents to organize and present this exciting event every two years.

Peel Music Festival:

Peel Music Festival continues to be one of Canada's largest independent annual music festivals. Begun in 1927 in Brampton by W. E. Capps, a local elementary school music teacher, the scope of the Festival has grown substantially in the ensuing years. In addition to offering competitive adjudication of the highest professional standard to young performers on a variety of instruments including brass, woodwinds, strings, classical guitar, and piano, the Festival also offers classes for choirs, ensembles and for solo performers in voice, musical theatre and speech arts. Peel Music Festival is a not-for-profit organization, run by a group of dedicated volunteers. Feel free to browse this site and learn more about the Festival.
